Burlington is a city located on the ridge of the Niagara Escarpment and the shores of the great Lake Ontario. Burlington City is in the centre of what is referred to as the Golden Horseshoe, a dynamic business region in Southern Ontario. Burlington City sits within the Greater Toronto Area and a population of 164,415. Politically, the city belongs to Halton Region. Burlington City is one of the top areas to live in Canada. It is one of the 3 best cities in Canada.

The land area in Burlington City is 187 km2, made up of the sloping plains right in the middle between the Niagara Escarpment and Lake Ontario. The urban centre of the city of Burlington is located within the south of Hwy. 407 and the Parkway Belt. To the north, the land is largely used for rural residential, conservation and agriculture. Burlington City was once a port town. Nowadays, recreational sailing vessels moor at a slip marina in LaSalle Park.

There are a lot of city highlights comprising the summer festivals like for instance Burlington Sound of Music festival and Canada's Largest Ribfest. Lots of tourists come to visit the Spencer Smith Park and the Burlington Art Centre. All of these attractions could be found at the Waterfront at Downtown Burlington. Burlington City attracts nature lovers due to its proximity to the Niagara Escarpment and the Iroquoian section of the Bruce Trail. Visitors come to see the Royal Botanical Gardens, which Burlington shares with Hamilton. Another attraction is the Skyway Bridge, a 2.2 km long bridge. Two big malls, Burlington Mall and Mapleview Centre, draw numerous shoppers.

The city of Burlington has a healthy economy driven mainly by the automotive and manufacturing sectors. Burlington enjoys the economic advantages of a diversified economic base with well-developed transportation infrastructure. It is located in Canada's largest consumer market and close to big industries, benefiting from proximity to Hamilton and its location within the Greater Toronto Area. Burlington City has always been connected with a high quality of life.

Large numbers of Burlington people are hired within packaging, food processing, motor vehicle/transportation, business services, electronics, chemical/pharmaceutical and environmental businesses. The largest private sector companies are Fearmans Pork Inc., Cogeco Cable, Evertz Microsystems, Boehringer Ingleheim and EMC2. Numerous individuals are employed within the public sector, working for Joseph Brant memorial Hospital, the city of Burlington, the Halton District Board of Education and the Halton Catholic District School Board. Burlington's economy is really diverse with no single employment sector or employer dominating.
